The purpose of this initiative is to deepen Spanish-speaking lay leaders’ understanding of the scriptures from a Catholic perspective as they serve in various ministries in your diocese.

Participants in Escuela Biblica Catolica
Participants in Escuela Biblica Catolica gain the knowledge necessary to start Spanish-language Bible study groups within their own parishes.

Catholic Extension Society has partnered with the University of Dallas School of Ministry (UD SOM) to bring their Spanish-language Bible study program, Escuela Biblica Catolica, to your diocese. This is a two-year program, which involves intensive study of both the Old and New Testaments. This agreement covers 100 percent of the cost of tuition and travel for the instructor.

The program can accommodate 60 to 100 students per diocese. No particular educational background is required.

Once a month, for eight consecutive months a year, an instructor from the University of Dallas School of Ministry will travel to your diocese to lead a day-long class at a predetermined location. Upon completion of the program, students receive a Certificate of Biblical Studies. This program is intended especially for lay leaders who teach religious education, serve as lectors or plan to lead Bible study groups.

Duration: 2 years
Value to Participating Diocese: $100,000 (per cohort of 60 students)
