Deacons play an enormous role in the areas we support. In many places they have become the ordinary face of ministry. Without them, countless ministries would not happen. Catholics would have less access to sacraments and many would have no pastoral presence in their community.
Catholic Extension Society provides funding for the formation and training of deacons serving the Church in a variety of roles across the United States. Our donors also support ongoing education and workshops for current deacons, and salary subsidies for deacons
Deacons reflect their communities, both ethnically and culturally, and understand the concerns of their people. They bring Catholics — who are often forgotten and in dire situations — closer to God.
